LEGO Universe Closing

| Nov 4, 2011
It was announced earlier today that LEGO Universe will be closing January 31st 2012. The LEGO moderator, Keighlian, posted this on the message boards:

Hello Adventurer, today we are very sad to announce that LEGO Universe will be closing on Janurary 31, 2012. This was a very difficult decision to make, but unfortunately LEGO Universe has not been able to attract the number of members needed to keep the game open.

We are thankful to have had the opportunity to share this adventure wiith an amazing community of players. We hope you will continue to enjoy LEGO Universe for the last few months. As a thank you, if you are a paying subscriber on December 31, 2011, we will provide you the full game for the final month for free.

Again, we want to thank the fantastic community of players who made LEGO Universe such a vibrant, fun and creative experience.

Sincerely,

The LEGO Universe Team

It is unknown how this will effect updates already scheduled to be released. It can be safely assumed that Frostburgh and most likely the Fire Temple will be released. However I doubt that any content after that will be released.

Just some updates for everyone who is interested.

- Frostburgh and Fire Temple will probably not be released. 1.10.64 is the last version probably
- Moderation team that mods properties has been fired.
- Figmentia and Elementron were fired together with all the developers.
- Only the LUP leader called PrimeFigulus is left, he is also the one who is the "contest guy".
- The post about the LU closure was NOT made by Figgy, LEGO just used her name to announce it.
- Directly after the news was said, Figgy had to leave the building, had to give cell phone from LEGO, no access anymore to her computer, no door access, and her LEGO emailaddress.
- Nexus Force Championships are not continuing.
- But there are other competitions coming with PrimeFigulus, SamuraiMaster, and Flambridge.

Well, that's sad.

Maybe we'll get some MLN updates. Well, most likely not, they fired the whole team.

@FDH How is the LU staff related with the MLN staff anyway?

FDH said... [REPLY]

@Gatanui

Well, you're right, but i think lego focused developing primary on LU. So now, thex saw that mmos aren't really rentable, they'll start developing other things, and developing new stuff for mln is far cheaper

Gatanui said... [REPLY]

@FDH I doubt they are going to update MLN, as it´s already several years old and so is the last update. They will more likely focus on developing new content.

I talked to a Lego dealer and he said with a big smile "There is something cooler and better coming like LU from Lego"

IDK if this is true but I really trust this guy.

@4cody

Maybe, if he did know something, he was talking about the LEGO Octopus thing?

mysterygoo said... [REPLY]

I aksed a friend of mine about that, he said it wasn't going to be like LEGO Universe, but like a LEGO Facebook type thing. I'm pretty sure that is true, since if LEGO would be creating another MMO from scratch, there would be much more buzz about it.
