Lego Design Challenge!

| Jun 25, 2010
The LEGO® Holiday Workshop elves have swapped their sled for surf boards and left the North Pole to go hang-ten at the beach. While our tiny toy builders ride the waves, the LEGO Toymaker needs some extra help preparing for the holidays!

Do you have what it takes to design a cutting edge creation? Enthusiasts ages 5 and older are invited to submit an idea for a new LEGO creation. Develop your new LEGO creation using a maximum of 100 LEGO bricks and/or elements. Then, submit a photo or image of your creation along with a brief description of your creation (50 words or fewer). You may build your creation using physical bricks and elements or you may develop your creation virtually, using LEGO® Design byME. See Official Rules for complete details.

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS: The LEGO Group invites enthusiasts age 5 and older to submit an idea for a new LEGO® creation, using a maximum of 100 LEGO bricks and/or elements. Entries will be judged in four age categories (based on age as of date entry was received): ages 5-8, ages 9-12, ages 13-15 and ages 16 and older. One Grand Prize winner will be determined in each of the four age categories. Note: This promotion is open only to residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia.

TWO WAYS TO ENTER: Submit a photo/image of your creation along with a brief description (50 words or fewer) of your creation. You may build your creation using physical bricks and elements or you may develop your creation virtually, using the LEGO® Design byME application. If you develop your creation using the LEGO® Design byME application, you will be able to save an image of your creation as a .png file which you can then submit electronically or print out to submit. If you develop your creation using the LEGO® Design byME application, please save the .lxf file of your creation. The LEGO® creation and description must be child’s own original work. Creations must be built/designed using only LEGO® bricks and elements; creations using anything other than LEGO® bricks and elements will be disqualified. You may submit multiple entries; however, each entry (creation and description) must be different. Creations must be constructed by entrant only.

• To Enter Online: Beginning 8:00 AM ET on 6/24/10, visit shop.LEGO.com/designchallenge, and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the entry form, upload your photo/image, input your description of your creation and enter the contest. See above for photo/image requirements. Entries must be received by 11:59:59 PM ET on 8/8/10.

• To Enter By Mail: A printable Official Entry Form will be available at shop.LEGO.com/designchallenge beginning 8:00 AM ET on 6/24/10. Complete an Official Entry Form and submit along with the photo/image of your creation and your description of your creation. If you do not have a printer hand print or type all required information on a plain piece of 8-1/2" x 11" paper. See above for photo/image requirements. On the back of the photo/image, print your complete name and address. Parent/legal guardian must sign entry if entrant is a minor. Mail your completed Official Entry Form or 8-1/2” x 11” piece of paper and photo/image to: LEGO® Design Challenge, P.O. Box 5601, Blair, NE 68009-5601. Entries must be received by 8/13/10. Rats, I doubt I can compete with all the older builders in my age range. :/

I'd like 43 blog points redeemed on each Lightworm, for a total of 129 clicks.

Too bad I cannot enter this one.

Well, Gatanui.
If it makes you feel any better, I can't even buy from the online lego shop! It is a miracle that LU loads properly for me!

Another US only competition. LEGO is from Denmark, which is European, I wonder if they feel left out? The homeland of LEGO not allowed to enter the competitions.

@ CC150: Thank you very much! I am almost Rank 10! :D

@ Eragon.Saphira: I find that odd as well. It's sad that they neglect their own country for marketing. I suppose they don't get much business there.
