Posted by Sim533 | Jun 11, 2010 Labels: Games, Lego Universe
Welcome back to this special series on LEGO® Universe building features! In this edition, you can learn more about Free Building and how to bring your creations to life in the gameworld.
When the dark and destructive Maelstrom was formed, it infected every LEGO Universe world, from the largest to thousands upon thousands of smaller worlds. Now, Minifigures who join the battle to save Imagination are settling on those smaller worlds and using their creativity to push back the Maelstrom!
Hop into your custom rocket and fly to your LEGO Universe property to join the fun! When you first land, your property will be overrun with Stromlings, the dark menace’s destructive creatures. Battle the Stromlings to start making your world your own!
Enter “Brick Mode” and the outside world fades; now you’re free to take your time creating. Scatter your bricks and models on the ground and begin building any LEGO creation you can imagine— brick by brick!
You can keep your property private, invite only your friends to see your creations, or safely build a world to wow any LEGO fan. Your world, your rules!
If you need more bricks for a masterpiece, then adventure around the gameworld to gather them! You can get more LEGO pieces by trading with vendors and your friends; completing missions and achievements; smashing special models; or zooming to victory at the racetracks.
You may be wondering things like, “If I build a hover car, how can I get it off the ground?” Now live in the LEGO Universe Closed-Beta Test, players can also gather “behaviors.” Apply a flying behavior to your creation and up it goes— and that’s only the beginning!
Stay tuned for much more on behaviors and how to bring your incredible creations to life in the first massively multiplayer online game for LEGO fans!

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to say that, but I think the normal Stromlings are returning in a new world! Look at the second picture. Notice how it's dark outisde. Avants Gardens is very bright.
It´s explained that that is your property. ;)
The article about the Maelstrom takeover seems to imply that Mission 20 will be a more important one than the rest. Could they possibly be hinting that it will be the link between the Great Minifig Mission and LEGO Universe itself? They still haven't opened an Open Beta (although at this point it may not happen).
Just a speculation...
Wait, GATHER behaviors?
Does that mean...? D=

It means you could be stuck a pessimist for the rest of your life ;)
LOL! I'm already a pessimist, so there. :P
I'm really looking forward to the Closed Mac Beta (I emailed LEGO and they confirmed it).
@crackers5
Wait... Did they mention if the Mac Beta starts after the regular Closed Beta ends, but before the game is released? Or will the game be released for PC, after which they will begin the Beta for Macs? This information would affect the time frame in which the game will be released.
They probably didn't disclose many details, but I thought I'd ask anyways.
@Vanderdecken12
Hehe. Good one. :)
At cracker: I think the game was confirmed to launch for PC and MAC at the same time.
@LEGOverse: Nope. It's coming DURING the Closed-Beta. ;D

You get a free Toy Story poster with every Toy Story purchace in the LEGO shop!
@ Gata and LEGOVerse
They didn't tell me when, they just told me that I had heard right about a Mac Closed-Beta. I sure hope they don't do it separately from the PC Beta! :P
Unfortunately, I deleted the email by accident. :/
Apparently you get a special in-game reward for subscribing for 12 months.
At Arin: You get it for six months as well.
@crackers5 and LegoFan101
I asked because there is probably that there is not not a whole lot of time left in the Closed Beta. If the game is being release in the Fall (and I'm assuming that the Beta is ending when the game is released), then that wouldn't leave much time for a separate Mac Beta to start. This is also not taking into account the possibility of an Open Beta.
In general, if the Mac Beta is not going to be a separate testing, then it will not shorten the length of the regular Beta, nor will it push the release date back. This information can help us confirm or pinpoint an Open Beta and the release date.
@LEGOverse: I'm pretty sure there won't be an open beta.
Unless demand over it goes haywire, this'll be all she wrote.
They did state, after all, that Closed-Beta would be the last phase before launch. ;)
Also, I believe that a corporate memo and GMM timer coding check places the release date in Mid-August. Specifically between August 16-18. I don't really think much will stand in the way of that. I imagine that's how it'll be. ;)

@LegoFan101
That's what I was thinking, but I wasn't completely sure. However, if the game is going to be released mid-August, then there won't be much time for an Open Beta. Either way, if they did have an Open Beta, it would probably be more like a demo for the game, because what would be the point in letting everybody play the full game for free?
@ LEGOVerse
Yeah... Unfortunately I doubt the Mac beta will be open for very long. :/
