Eragon.Saphira, an author of this blog and dedicated member, was the winner of this month's contest. She has helped judge past contests, and she entered and won this one. It was very close between her and Arin3 and Garside929. Arin3 and Garside929 tied for second, and got second by a mere 3.89 points! Eragon.Saphira, in the 4 contests she's entered, managed to get in the top 3 of each one. Two of them she got first. She currently has a record for highest number of points (88.5/100) in a contest. Without a doubt, her creative skills are beyond ordinary.

What the judges thought about Eragon.Saphira's entry...
"The winner of the gallery contest is Eragon.Saphira, the judges have chosen her as the member with the best gallery creation. But what the purpose of this text is to say why I choose her, simply... Look at the creation with the description. It is just perfect. As beta tester of the LU game, I can tell you that this model could be easily put into game."  -Sim533

"Very small, yet extremely detailed. I picked Eragon.Saphira's entry as my favorite because it is full of originality, detail, and the colors look great together. Amazing job!"-CheshireCat150

"What I like a lot about Eragon.Saphira´s entry is its neat colours and shape. Nothing looks out of place on this MOC which I have not seen often on LEGO sets. :P I can very well imagine this MOC as a property model in LEGO Universe, so that speaks for itself. Congratulations!" -Gatanui

Our next two entries tied for second!:

Tekumaster, we have already a draft together before you post, however I think that CC150 would give you 15 blog points for this.

Another note: We received every comment, so I would like to come to the point that one comment is enough. Making 5 the same comments is more moderating work for us. Thank you! :)
( It is always funny to see if we have so much comments to moderate, though. =P )

Tekumaster, blogger has - let us call it - a post list, where you can see every post every created since this blog has been started. There are things like published - draft - scheduled...

Published, the post is online
Draft, the post has been saved
Scheduled, the post would be online soon

Sim, the Top-Of-Blogs banner in in a very random spot!

CheshireCat150 said... [REPLY]

@Arin3 Top-Of-Blogs banner?

Arin³ said... [REPLY]

@CheshireCat150 It's not much of a banner, but if you use Firefox, and scroll to the very bottom of the blog, you can see a blue-white link on the bottom right.

@CheshireCat150 The thing in the right bottom corner

@Arin3 What do you exactly mean? (It is nothing I have putted there. )

...What, was my entry not worthy of recognition or points?

tombomdoodle said... [REPLY]

Hey, 6th, that's not too bad! :D Thanks!

@Sim533

This Top Of Blogs thing seems to be a blog ranking page someone has made, and this blog is at number 16. :) Strangely, they are all from different blog companies.

Sim533 said... [REPLY]

@LEGOVerse
That wasn't a LEGO creation nor it was on your page. I'm very sorry, but thank you for entering!

@tombomdoodle Congratulations Tombomdoodle! Thank you for your entry!

Wow, that seems a new record! We had yesterday over 400 visitors!

LEGOVerse said... [REPLY]

@Sim533

*Sigh*... oh well. I tried. :)

Since the top the page had said you got "ZERO" entries, I thought I'd enter to brighten up the list. Needless to say is was a bit awkward when I found out you had in fact received entries.

Question on the Opposite Day contest: Shouldn't the contest begin on September 4th and end on August 19th, for the sake of consistency? Shouldn't we see the winners (losers?) before we vote? That would make a lot more sense, wouldn't it?

Sim533 said... [REPLY]

@LEGOVerse
You are confusing me. XD JK.

I have actually no idea, that might be something that CC150 didn't thought about.
Anyway, nobody is a loser here, everyone who enter is a winner, if they enter a valuable entry.

Let this question open to CC150...
But actually, how could we know who the winners are if there aren't users who voted for it already? :S

LEGOVerse said... [REPLY]

@Sim533

@Sim533

First of all, wouldn't calling the winners "winners" actually be calling them the opposite of winners, being losers (alright, "non-winners"). There are no winners in an opposite contest, right?

Second of all, in a normal contest, people vote, then the winners are declared. In this case, shouldn't the non-winners be declared before people cast there vote? I think that would be a lot less confusing.

Remember, if you are going to do an Opposite Day contest, you need to think things through thoroughly. Might I ask how Russian is the opposite of English? Why we aren't celebrating Opposite Day every day but May 26th? Or, is that to say, in reality, every day is Opposite Day but May 26th, thus that is the only day it is observed?

The strategic thinking of the MLN Blog is to be tested in this upcoming contest. I wish you luck!

Sim533 said... [REPLY]

Hello, Legoverse in the other way. =P Welcome to our blog.

Don't look at me, most of the things are Cheshirecat150's idea... However that a little bit of the contest has been made by all the staff members thar are active.

Let me come to your points quickly...
1/ The opposite contest was been made to make something others then the simply 'happy fourth of july' contest or the 'gallery contest' which gaved us almost 20 entries. We were thinking about something special, and we found so.

We called it an opposite contest, because we are not searching for the page that is the best decorated but for the page that is the worst decorated.
Another point that we called this contest 'opposite contest' is because we are not going to judge this time but everyone who reads this would be able to judge.
So, I hope you can see that there would be a winner somehow.

We can't do everything opposite, that there wouldn't be a contest, we can't say 'that is the winner'...

We have discussed things with the staff for 100% and we wouldn't posted it if it wasn't done at all.

Why is Russion the opposite? Do you know what timezones are? You can find +0.00 hours in the middle of the world chart. USA is on the left, and Russia in on the right... Instead of English, we just take Russian.

We just celebrate it now because we wanted to change something in our contest and we became to this idea.

If you have more questions, feel free to ask.

CheshireCat150 said... [REPLY]

Bye legoVERSE. Let me come to my last point:

Why are you blaming me for a few mistakes in our Opposites Day Contest? If I created it, should you blame Sim533?

Not only is Russian on the Opposite side of the timezone world, it is also a very opposite language indeed. Have you ever tried reading, or perhaps speaking Russian? Just listing to the language you can tell it is the opposite (it sounds like a tape recorder going backwards).

You have a good point saying that we should celebrate Opposites Day every day except May 26 (Lol, kinda reminds me of "unbirthdays" from Alice in Wonderland). That is a very good idea, and usually we take suggestions from members of our blog, but for Opposites Day we aren't going to. Therefore, because you suggested it, we're not going to use it.

Ok, now I will present to you my first point:

-CheshireCat150
P.S. If you have any more answers, please tell them and I will ask you questions.

LEGOVerse said... [REPLY]

P.S. I like the phrase "If you have any more answers, please tell them and I will ask you questions." That's real Opposite Day thinkin'.

Lastly, for reference, I did not intend to "blame" anyone, but merely to point out the paradoxal errors that are naturally formed with topics such as Opposite Day. Although, if you created it, it does seem oppositically correct to not blame you, right?

It's all in the spirit (that is to say, out of the spirit) of Opposite Day. I believe that it should be a day celebrating the logistical flaws in every human.

Having said that, I would like to note that if you aren't going to use suggestions that people do suggest, then shouldn't you be using suggerstions the people don't ask?

@Sim533, in response to your timezone rational for Russian, I'd like to point out that the USA is not the only country that speaks English, and that England is in the same hemisphere as Russia. Conversely, Russia is not the only country in which Russian is spoken. Languages should not be stereotyped to specific parts of the world, especially in this day and age.

I cannot deny, however, that Russian does indeed sound like English backwards. This I will accept.

First of all (back to the contest), I didn't say that there couldn't be winners. I just said that if in a normal contest "there are no losers", then in this contest "there are no winners". Note that I used the less demeaning, and consequently more politically correct, term non-winners.

If and when there is any disagreement on what I said, I am, as always, open to further discussion on this subject.

CheshireCat150 said... [REPLY]

Whoa, have you considered joining a debate club? ;)

Ok, back to work...

We were referring to USA English because that is the way I usually write the posts, not because it is the only country that speaks it. As for Russian, have you noticed that all the countries that speak Russian are in the Eastern Hemisphere? While USA is in the Western Hemisphere.

Technically, even though we say there are no losers, there is always someone who gets last. Whether we call them losers or not is our own choice. In this case, we can't help but to get a winner, but this time we're not using "non" because we're doing the opposite.

As for using suggestions that people didn't suggest, we've done that already! Haven't you noticed? Or maybe you didn't notice because you're doing the opposite of what you usually do, which is notice. :)

Now, wouldn't it be only normal to reply to an argument you haven't even made yet?: Your argument: "We shouldn't be having a contest at all if we're trying to do the opposite." Ok, my final and first answer to your argument is: Where would the fun be in that? Everyone would be wondering where the next contest is, and we wouldn't be having this conversation right now.

I'm I to take this to opposite way?:If and when there is any disagreement on what I said, I am, as always, open to further discussion on this subject. Does that mean you're closed to further discussion?

If you find any flaws with my reasoning, you can't blame me because I said what I didn't mean, and I didn't mean what I said. Or maybe I didn't say what I meant.

Feel free to discuss this farther if you have any questions, comments, or arguments. My goal is to keep going until you're satisfied (unsatisfied?) with the results. This conversation is amusing (not amusing?), as the contest was supposed to be in the first place.

Feel (smell?) free (expensive?) to join this conversation too, everyone else who is not reading it (think opposite)!

Arin³ said... [REPLY]

Nobody ever said we had write in opposites?
In actual fact,the contest said the contest was in favour of opposite day.

It was put up yesterday, so anybody who objects can unobject, so I object... unobject???

Just think... Would you ditch school on opposite day? Or any other day.Somebody has to put some opposite day rules up, like:
Only celebrate opposite day today, OR don't let opposite day effect your life.

The topic states: There you will be able to view the entrants' pages, and vote for your worst favourite. The person with the least amount of votes wins!.

Which translates:
There you will be able to view the entrants' pages, and vote for your unworst unfavourite. The person with the most amount of votes loses!

Causing a parodic conversation that doesn't make sence.

A lot of people read this blog, and this confusciates things. So, in favor of paradoxes I rephrase my words:

It was put up yesterday, so anybody who unobjects can object,vice versa. So I object... unobject???

Nobody ever loses here. You always get un rewarded. So... the question here is...
Who is right and who is not wrong???

Also the minifigures site has been updated for a while

Hi MLN Dup (dust bunny stump...)?

THIS IS NOT IN OPPOSITE 'SPEAK'

Thanks for the points judges! :-)

I am totally confused by the opposites post, what 'date' do the entrants have to have their 'completed' pages in by?

Just to be annoying, to be truly opposite why don't we 'not' enter at all, since it is a competition?

CheshireCat150 said... [REPLY]

Congrats on getting first!

Check your Google documents. :)

Lol, good one Eragon.Saphira. Technically, you don't need to enter, but with how well you've been doing lately...

LEGOVerse said... [REPLY]

I'd like to point out that not everything we have been saying has been the opposite of what we intended to convey, so it doesn't seem valid to assume that I meant that I was closed to discussion, because I wasn't. In other words, my posts have not been oppositified. If you would like to take it to that level, with inversive logic and the assumption of the contrapositive, then that would be fine with me. Bring it on!

Also, I would never say "We shouldn't be having a contest at all if we're trying to do the opposite" because, as you said, what would the fun be in that? And who am I to assume that you actually tried not to have an Opposite Contest, but then did so to be opposite?

@CheshireCat150 (in response to this post)

Oh, and just to be predictable, I'd like to ask if you were being oppositical when you said that there were no opposites in that post. Wouldn't have made more sense to post that where opposites were not allowed, so that there would be no confusion as to the validity of those statements? Should I have not read it carefully? Would I get unbanned permanently with a second thought from the admins of other blogs if I weren't to post opposites elsewhere?

Permanent ban for an opposite reference outside of this one thread? I think it would be fair to allow opposite comments/debates on any post about this contest, as this post will eventually disappear off the page as news comes in.

Sim533 said... [REPLY]

Nobody will receive a ban here, however we better stop with confusing users.

About the contest: It looks easier then it is written. Users would see a list of staff members and then they can judge for it. The best staff member (or with other words the staff member that has the worst page) would receive 5 points and so on the worst staff member (or with other words the staff member that has the best page) would receive one point.

Because users are getting confused, I would lock this blog post as long as the list isn't up.
